Kaj Hellbom

Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of BCI, M.Sc. (Econ.)

I am a business coach and trainer in coaching and leadership skills, with a keen interest in people management and development. I founded my first company focused on leadership development back in 1999. Before that, I spent nearly 20 years in the academic world in expert and supervisory roles, particularly in leadership development, and several years in executive management roles within leadership teams and boards.

Thanks to my extensive work experience, I have a broad range of both theoretical and practical knowledge in the fascinating and important field of leadership and development. My major in economic studies was economic policy, which provided me with a deep understanding of the systemic nature of economic systems at both micro and macro levels. I have also developed my own change and influence skills by studying to become an NLP Trainer.

My work as a leadership developer involves actively exploring new leadership methods. This led me to the coaching approach to leadership over twenty years ago. When coaching gained more traction in Finland, I was involved in founding the Finnish Coaching Association in 2004 and served as its first chairman. A few years later, I helped establish the ICF Finland Chapter and subsequently held various international roles within ICF Global. I am also the only Finn to have served on the ICF Global Board.

In 2006, I co-founded Finland’s first coach training organization, BCI Business Coaching Institute, and I am still the owner of the company. In the company, I am responsible for both corporate and coach training program development.

I am particularly inspired by all forms of dialogical education and development work. My field encompasses various types of positive leadership training, as well as coaching for supervisors and leaders at both individual and executive team levels. The significance of leadership is immensely important!

A good teacher remains a student throughout their entire life.
